Brief description of research
Our team investigates the molecular mechanisms behind the development of cardiovascular disease, with focus on disease prevention via the gut microbiota using both pre-clinical (animal) and clinical studies. We have made major discoveries on how dietary fiber, through production of gut microbiota-derived metabolites called short-chain fatty acids, lower blood pressure in experimental models.
