I’m a science & biotech writer focused on tiny things: the microbes that live in and around us. I cover all kinds of stories in the microbiome field — not just the latest scientific advances, but also what they mean for our lives. On topics ranging from fecal transplants to microbiome start-up investments, I speak with the scientists, medical professionals, entrepreneurs, and thinkers who are moving this field forward.

I write and speak about a topic that’s at the forefront of scientific innovation in health and medicine: the human microbiome.

My favourite subjects? Gut microbiota, nutrition, probiotics, prebiotics, and fecal microbiota transplantation.

On my own or with collaborators, I’ve authored several books — IBS For Dummies, Gut Health For Dummies, The Well-Fed Microbiome Cookbook, and Gut Microbiota: Interactive Effects on Nutrition and Health, 2nd edition.

Getting the science right is my number one priority. With all the work I curate and produce, I’ll give you the facts, not the hype.

I am a member in good standing, Science Writers and Communicators of Canada.
